A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said: "Today is a good day for the #United Nations Army and a bad day for Russian aviation. Su-25 destroyed two Su-30 and Su-34."
The harsh language used in the tweet was in reference to Ukrainian forces on Snake Island, who used similar language when they ordered Russian forces to surrender shortly after the war began.

It is estimated that the country lost tens of thousands of military weapons when Russia began its invasion in February.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed or captured more than 259 military aircraft, 2,275 tanks, 4,832 armored fighting vehicles, and 3,701 longships and ships since February 24.

The new law includes severe penalties for soldiers who refuse to fight in Ukraine, including 10 years in prison.
Protests erupted in more than 38 Russian cities, a sign of growing frustration with the Kremlin's handling of the war.

The Lightning F-35 II is considered the most advanced combat aircraft in the world. It is not a jet fighter powered by US manufacturer Lockheed Martin. It is essentially a powerful jet armed with a computer that can process thousands of pieces of data per second and share it with other aircraft in the air and on the ground.
But are the jets right for the Bundeswehr? Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) announced on Monday that Germany wants to buy 35 jets of the Hurricane fighter, which has entered service for more than 40 years and can carry American nuclear bombs like the F-35.
"There are military reasons in favor of the F-35," said Rafael Loss, a security think tank at the European Council on Foreign Relations. "If you're going to deliver a nuclear bomb, it's better to do it with a stealth plane than with a plane that doesn't have that capability," he said. "We need a low-signature radar and the ability to detect and engage long-range targets. And the F-35 can do this better than any air combat system on the market right now."

What Happened To Russia's Air Force? U.s. Officials, Experts Stumped
But these opportunities come at a high price. Damage is expected to 35 fighter jets at a cost of about 4 billion euros ($4.4 billion). "On top of that, of course, there will be prices, which are significant," he said. In addition, for the necessary conversion of German military airports, probably several hundred million in cash must be invested from the economic side.
Without a Russian war against Ukraine, such a siege is unthinkable. But now the German government wants to improve the Bundeswehr with a special fund of 100 billion euros. Political opposition to a new nuclear bomber is also low. They were even less critical of the Greens. Once founded by pacifists, they are now part of Germany's ruling coalition.
The only Left Party that is in opposition is unequivocally against the purchase of F-35s. "Let's arm the Bundeswehr with new warplanes capable of carrying nuclear weapons," said Ali Al-Dailami, spokesman for the defense policy of the left-wing party in the Bundestag in the German parliament. "Nuclear participation in which US nuclear weapons are dropped by Bundeswehr pilots does not create security, but increases the threat of nuclear war in Europe. The horror of the Ukrainian war is not an excuse for the misuse of such weapons."
The German Air Force is apparently comfortable with the power to offer a successor to the aging turbine aircraft by the end of the decade. Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz pointed out that many other European armies were also chosen by the US fighter. "Weakening the ability to join Nata to protect their space and defend society," he said.

In Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, and most recently in Finland and Switzerland, the F-35 was picked up. Air defense cooperation with Germany will become easier for them.
"And in France, this decision has become a disappointment," says Paul Maurice, a researcher at the French Institute of International Relations in Paris. "Here, the F-35 is understood as a symbol of US power in NATO. After all the speeches about the autonomy and control of Europe, it was expected that Germany would be more aligned with the European weapons policy."
After all, he said, what will happen if the United States withdraws forces from Europe, as it did under President Donald Trump? "It will happen with the next president, but also after the midterm elections," Maurice said. He adds that Europe is ready for such a development and that there should be more law in matters of security. "It takes ten to fifteen years of preparation to start now."
There are fears that the acquisition of the F-35 in France could be jeopardized by the Franco-German-Spanish FCAS, which stands for the Future Air Combat System. A billion-dollar project for the latest European fighter jet to replace the French Rafale and German EuroFighter aircraft by 2040. According to Maurizio, the defense community in Paris is now asking itself: "Does Germany still need FCAS at all? Or are the F-35s perhaps a long-term rather than a transitional solution?"

Berlin emphasized that it was only buying F-35s to replace the Tornadoes and not for other missions. An alternative, such as the aging American F-18 or the Eurofighter, which has been discussed in recent years, must first go through a long process to be considered capable of carrying nuclear bombs.
And the minister of defense has announced that 15 more European-made Eurofighters will be purchased for electronic warfare, that is, anti-radar measures. In addition, Lambrecht certified that there is still enough money left to take further FCAS. Like the F-35, this will be very complex and very expensive.
